If you’re ever in the mood for a fancy dessert, Bottega Louie is your go-to. There is a reason why this place has a Yelp rating of 4/5 stars and over 8,000 reviews. A true patisserie in every sense of the word, Bottega Louie offers a variety of delicate yet delectable desserts (there’s some alliteration for ya)! I too give it 4 SS out of 5.
As expected, the gorgeous treats offered are not for regular consumption. They are a little pricey, which makes them an occasional reward for yourself. I consider them a reward even. However you decide to indulge, I’m sure you won’t be disappointed. They have something for everyone. Tarts, chocolate desserts, peanut butter, fruity desserts, cakes, tiramisu, macaroons, beignets, and more!

After 36 years, a Southern California icon, and a (literally) big part of my childhood no longer stands. As of August 16, 2014 Colossus, also known as “the granddaddy of all roller coasters”, closed down.

Colossus was one of the very few wooded coasters left in California. There is a great deal of nostalgia associated with this ride. I remember coming to Six Flags Magic Mountain year after year as a kid. Colossus was always the first ride I got on for the day. It kind of set the tone and got me ready for thrills and excitement. It was also one if the rides I remember riding with my childhood crush in the summer. During the fall they would reverse the cars and you could ride Colossus backwards! That was so bananas (b-a-n-a-n-a-s)! Then, and the end of your day at Magic Mountain, it was Colossus that bordered the parking lot and was lit up with multicolored lights as if to be a grand farewell.
Colossus Facts

Where you Might Have Seen Colossus: Kiss Meets the Phantom of the Park, National Lampoon’s Vacation, Step by Step, and more
There is another wooden roller coaster at Magic Mountan, but I honestly have never been a fan if it. Colossus will always have a special place in my memories.
Have you ever seen a child eating ice cream or pizza, and subconsciously wiggling around? Like the treats they are enjoying have some type of magic move powder sprinkled on top? It’s been brought to my attention (numerous times) that when I’m eating, I dance. It’s more of a shimmy or shoulder shake really, but it only happens when I grub. The tastier my food the more I shimmy. It’s become kind of a joke at work now. “You’re doing it again”, or “Stop that!” is what I hear a lot of the time. But when it’s good, it’s good. I’m not gonna hold back!
So what I’ve decided to do from now on is create a rating system of my own. Any new (or even old) eatery I review will be given anywhere from one to five “Shelya shakes”, or SS for short.
I know I’ve been quiet for a little while, but I still had to eat, so lots of new stuff will be on its way. Shakes and all!
Oh! Below is a video from a while back in case you’re wondering what a “Shelya Shake” looks like.
Happy grubbing!
There’s nothing like ending your week/starting your weekend on a sweet note. That’s why God created desserts and late night caffés like Urth to serve them!
After a full day of errands and a pretty thorough workout my sweet tooth was letting me know that it was time to satisfy him. I was already in my pjs and went back and forth a few times trying to decide if getting off the couch, changing clothes, doing something with my bedtime hair (which was all wrapped up), and driving would be worth silencing said tooth. Sure enough, I ended up at a caffé with a friend to share a work-week cap.

I’ve been to Urth dozens if times, and have only had their delicious pumpkin pie for dessert. This time I went for the blueberry pie. It just looked so perfect, but then again all their cakes, pies, and pastries do. My friend had the duchess of chocolate cake, (which is chocolate hazelnut cake).
We sat, talked, grubbed… it was a very pleasant end to my week. A reminder to savor the small, sweet moments.
