Eureka!

February 1, 2013

The next leg of our trip ended at the tippy-top of California, in Eureka (okay, maybe not the “tippy-top”, butpretty darn close).

Although there wasn’t much in the city of Eureka, there was plenty of amazing landscape just minutes away.  We visited the Carson Mansion, which is a lovely Victorian home built for a lumber baron.

We also explored the nearby redwood forest and were completely mesmerized by its beauty.  There were so many trails, and we had no idea which to take.  We ended up on the Lady Bird Johnson Grove trail.  There were also a lot of coastal trails, which we determined that we should have taken instead of the Lady Bird.
